Vision Easy to Use

A single Vision system will be used by many people with different job roles and varying levels of experience with the system. A key design goal of Vision was to make the system simple and intuitive for new users, and at the same time to provide easy access to more sophisticated functionality for advanced users.
The flexible advantage
The key to Vision’s popularity with its user base is its flexibility. Although it is a comprehensive system, Vision is extremely user friendly because its screens can be customised to fit individual requirements.
Vision’s Consultation Manager is based around role-based tabbed views that improve access to key information by highlighting important data.
A set of standard views are included with Vision, although it is very easy to develop custom views to meet the specific requirements of individuals or teams, such as Community staff or locums. Novice users typically prefer a basic screen layout, whereas advanced users can have busier screens with a multitude of controls and information to hand.
Easy Appointments
The appointment book view is also completely user-definable. All relevant GPs and clinics can be included and slots can be assigned in different colours to denote specific usage. Patient status is recorded when they arrive, enter the consultation room or leave the surgery, so practice staff can get a quick overview of the current situation at any time.
Problem views
A typical example of Vision’s flexibility during consultations is the option to display problem oriented views, which use a graphical timeline to group all of the care events associated with a particular problem.
The benefits of the problem oriented view include:
- Easy to switch from current to older problem
- Prompts for pre-existing problems
- Data entry screens are triggered by Read code section
Guidelines for quality data
Vision uses templates (also known as guidelines) to allow Read coded data to be entered quickly and accurately. Vision users are encouraged to use guidelines rather than free text because they improve the quality of the recorded data.
Vision includes a comprehensive set of guidelines, although it is easy for practices to define their own guidelines and corresponding audits.
