INPS has encouraged Vision practices to buy Docman so they can enjoy the benefits of the improved document management facilities that it offers. EDT is an exciting new extension to Docman that allows the receipt of electronic correspondence from hospitals, including discharge summaries, into the practice.
INPS supports the rollout of EDT and is currently in discussions with PCTi Solutions Ltd (the developer of both Docman and EDT) to finalise the best way of presenting EDT to Vision Docman users.
INPS and PCTi have worked together to provide Vision users with the best possible integration for Vision Docman; INPS has also secured favourable end-user support arrangements for Docman when used in a Vision practice:
- Support is provided from a single INPS helpdesk; users of other clinical systems need to deal with two separate support desks in order to resolve an issue.
- Vision practices benefit from a significantly reduced support fee.
In line with the recent announcement from PCTi (see http://www.ehiprimarycare.com/news/5966/pcti_offers_free_software_to_gps), there will be no capital charge for the EDT practice software. However, there will be an increase in the annual support fee for Vision Docman when a practice uses EDT.
NOTE: Once EDT has been enabled within a practice, they can receive electronic correspondence from other organisations that support EDT server based transmissions. The local Trust must procure and enable their end of the EDT solution before a practice can receive electronic correspondence; EDT cannot be used in the practice in isolation. Please contact your local Acute Trust to find out if they are already using, or plan to use EDT in your area.
