Anonymisation of data, Quality and Outcomes Framework

12/10/04

Some practices will have a review visit as part of the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QoF). They will be required to supply a random sample of around 55 patients' clinical system data for this visit.

The review assessors are not permitted to access patient records or patient identifiable information without their consent or the records being anonymised as part of the National Health Service Act 1977.

This User Guide explains two ways to produce anonymised data - either from Search & Reports as an anonymised report (viewed on-screen or printed), or from Consultation Manager (viewed on-screen). Either can be used for a single patient or a group of patients.
