- Influenza/H1N1 Data Quality Audit (Version 16009, 15/02/10)
In the QOF audits version 15 Rules, there are no provisions made for patients that have been given the Swine flu immunisations. This will cause all the flu areas in the audit to select patients with seasonal flu immunisations and also H1N1 immunisations. This has been corrected in version 16 of the QOF Rules and H1N1 immunisations will be excluded from the flu searches.
In the meantime, we have created a Data Quality audit that will pick up patients that were given an H1N1 immunisation but NO seasonal flu immunisation. This will be released in version 15 of the Data Quality audits.
Testing on some practice have revealed that this audit can miss out some eligible patients and we have made some changes to the search to make it more accurate. We decided to release this one line of the H1N1 Data Quality audits now to aid practices with flu searches. The new line will be version 16009 and will import as part of an existing Data Quality audit or it could stand alone if you do not have any Data Quality audits imported.

- England Directed Enhanced Services 2008 - 2010Some problems have been reported to us in the DES audits and as a result we have made some changes: Some minor issues on the alcohol DES audit has been corrected. An unfortunate side effect of the DES audits have caused the QOF search for CHD and Beta Blockers to count incorrect read codes. Importing and generating version 12012 of the DES audit will correct this problem.Click here to see the User Guide in PDF (24/07/09)

INPS have written this audit which will allow practices to set reminders on patients where data is missing and do the preliminary work required before a risk can be calculated.Click here to see the User Guide in PDF (05/08/08)

The H1N1v Swine Flu Vaccine Uptake Reporting audit and Call and Recall audit will give different results for the group of women defined as currently pregnant.
In the Swine Flu Reporting audit patients who have any pregnancy or ambiguous code (see PRIMIS+ Criteria) after 01/02/09 and before 01/10/09 and who do not have a delivered code before 01/10/09 will be included in the currently pregnant group. Also, patients who have any pregnancy or ambiguous code on or after 01/10/09 regardless of any subsequent delivered code will be included. If a patient has a pregnancy or ambiguous code between 01/02/09 and 01/10/09 and has delivered AFTER 01/10/09 they will still appear in the pregnancy risk group for reporting purposes. This is based on the PRIMIS+ specification and will ensure that ALL patients who could have been given the immunisation are included for reporting purposes.
The search criteria for the Swine Flu Call and Recall audit is different in that patients who have a pregnant or ambiguous code between 01/02/09 and 01/10/09 and a delivered code after 1/10/09 will not be included in the pregnant women risk group. Practices requested that this should be the case for the call and recall audit to avoid sending letters to patients who are not longer “currently pregnant”. However we would advise caution in using this line of the audit without double checking the status of the patient, as reports from practices seem to suggest that getting delivery information about patients is less than accurate.

We have been advised that in the previous version of the JCVI audit, the sum of figures of the various month’s immunisations was not equal to the top Total line. The reason for this was that the top line was looking at all patients in the last 6 months counting back from the time the audit ran and will miss some patients that were on the clinical risk register before then. We have now changed the total line to show the total sum of the various months instead. We have also added some lines in the audit to show patients that had two immunisations with the same stage recorded so that they can be rectified.

Following the publication of the Directed Enhanced Services for H1N1v Vaccination, INPS noted that the audits already written for the collection of vaccination data for HPA/HPS reporting were insufficient to report also the information required under the DES. An additional audit has been written which will allow you to report on a monthly basis ALL patients who have been vaccinated that month, including the Surname, Forename, DOB, Date of vaccination and clinical indication for inclusion in the at-risk community. Vision will be upgraded in the New Year to include the NHS Number.

Now picks up Out of Practice MMR Immunisations
The CMO has recently advised all practices of a new catch up programme for MMR vaccination: http://www.immunisation.nhs.uk/Library/News/mmr_catchup
Following a decade of relatively low vaccination uptake, there is now a large number of children who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated with MMR. The potential exposure of a large number of unprotected children to the measles virus means that there is a real risk of a large measles epidemic.
Estimates suggest that an epidemic in England could result in 30,000 cases, or in a worst case scenario more than 100,000 cases of measles in children and young people. These children and young people will also be susceptible to mumps and rubella. As the tools being developed by PRIMIS+ to support the call and recall of these patients will not work for Vision practices we have written an audit to assist in this task.

It has been reported to us that the current HPV Phase 2 audits does not use the correct date of birth criteria for practices in Northern Ireland. Currently, INPS preventative Procedure audit for HPV is looking for patients born between 01/09/1991 – 31/08/1993. The new Northern Ireland audit will be separate from the INPS audits and the HPV will look for patients born between 02/07/1991 – 01/07/1993.

INPS have just received the criteria for this year's Northern Ireland DES audits for 2009/2010. These audits have been written to assist practices as they try to meet the requirements of the Directed Enhanced Services in Northern Ireland for 2009-10.
We have been advised that there will be no changes to the criteria from last year.
** UPDATE ** We have been made aware that the version 10001 of the audit generates a chronolysing error when it is imported and generated. This was because of a problem with the audit code. This has now been corrected. Please download version 10002 and import the audit, which should generate without errors.
