INPS Milestones

INPS1984: Value Added Medical Products (VAMP) was born

Free schemes for VAMP became available, where GPs leased or rented a system in return for providing data and participating in research projects. This was a flawed plan that nearly forced the company into bankruptcy, but VAMP survived!

The Company was split into 2 organisations: VAMP Ltd to develop and sell the VAMP system, and VAMP Research to manage the data.

The Company moved into new offices in Battersea – this facility is still the headquarters for INPS today.

The Company was sold to Reuters

The VAMP Research database was taken over by the Government and continues to this day as the General Practice Research Database (GPRD), now hosted by the MHRA

 Vision was launched

Competitor Micro Solutions Group was acquired. Some of the people that worked for CMSG still work for INPS today

The Multilex drug file was added to Vision

The Company was sold to CEGEDIM, a French organisation that specialises in healthcare IT systems and information. The name of the Company was changed to In Practice Systems Ltd.

Max Brighton was appointed as Managing Director. Other than the departure of a Finance Director, the INPS Management Team has not changed since 2000.

The Company joined forces with Epic to create The Health Improvement Network (THIN).

The Company acquired Saragon, a leading edge software house based in Dundee. The Dundee team (know known as INPS Enterprise Solutions) has since been expanded from 8 people to over 50, and is dedicated to developing Vision 4

The Company is rebranded as INPS
