HPA and Health Protection Scotland audits

We noticed that some sites have been experiencing problems generating the HPA and Health Protection Scotland audits, specifically the H1N1 Swine Flu audits. The problem was due to a fault in the code of the DES H1N1 JCVI Vaccination Groups audit and this affected certain practices. We have now corrected this fault and have also reduced the time this audit run. The new version 7 of the JCVI audit is now available from here:
http://www.inps4.co.uk/clinical-audits/downloads/

Importing the new audit will overwrite the previous faulty one and a generate of the new audit should complete successfully.

Multilex Drug Dictionary: Name Change on Some Flavoured/Coloured Products

Flavours and colours are represented as Multilex DDF packs.  However, following the "advance warning" given in the December 2009 Multilex Bulletin, where manufacturers include a flavour or colour as part of the brand name of the product, FDBE now identifies these as products instead of as packs. Some of these changes required the replacement of the existing multi-flavoured product with one or more new single flavoured products.  FDBE recommends the use of "Replacement Record" functionality to support the transition to the new products.

The products which have been affected are:

Corsodyl mouthwash 0.2% has been replaced by:
Corsodyl (Original) mouthwash
Corsodyl (Mint) mouthwash

Dioralyte Relief sugar-free powder has been replaced by:

Dioralyte Relief Apricot sugar-free powder

Electrolade sachets has been replaced by:

Northern Ireland DES Audits

INPS have just received the criteria for this year's Northern Ireland DES audits for 2009/2010.These audits have been written to assist practices as they try to meet the requirements of the Directed Enhanced Services in Northern Ireland for 2009-10 and can be downloaded here:
http://www.inps4.co.uk/clinical-audits/downloads/

We have been advised that there will be no changes to the criteria from last year. As we want to issue the audit without further delay, we have posted the latest audit here as version 10001 dated 13/01/2010. The accompanying user guide will stay the same apart from the dates that will reflect 2009-2010 period and the version 10001 of the audits. We are still in the process of changing these dates, so the current user guide will have incorrect dates until the guide has been updated.

Update 21/01/2010:

The user guide has now been updated and uploaded to the website.

How to use Vision Business Continuity

Do you use Vision in a hosted (VES) environment? Would you know how to access your data in the rare instances that the full Vision system is unavailable?

Vision Business Continuity is an INPS product available to hosted practices. It provides off-line read/write access to your clinical data in the rare event of the full Vision system not being available.

As practices do not need to use Vision Business Continuity very often, they sometimes forget how to use the product.

We have therefore produced an intuitive PowerPoint presentation that shows practice staff how to use Vision Business Continuity. We recommend that all hosted practices that have purchased Vision Business Continuity download the presentation and install it on all workstations that use Vision Business Continuity so it is readily to hand when it might be needed - it will prove invaluable in a time of need.

Please click here to download the Vision Business Continuity presentation

If you are a hosted practice that does not have Vision Business Continuity, please contact sales on sales@inps.co.uk for further details.
